You will learn all the rudiments of being a bus driver, safety checks, familiarisation with the type of bus and how it works, emergency procedures etc. Then there is a practice session of manoevering between cones and reversing using mirrors! When reasonably proficient you will be able to go for a run out and drive the bus along a private stretch of road. Driver experience days normally take place on Mondays - Fridays though some Sundays may be available. BRING ALONG A SPECTATOR You are welcome to bring a guest with you who will be welcome to ride on the bus and maybe will take photographs of you in the driving seat! They cannot be with you during safety checks as full concentration is necessary during these important procedures. GIFT VOUCHERS How about a birthday or Christmas present that`s different? BASIC DRIVER EXPERIENCE Morning 2 hours £149.00 Spectator £25.00 This experience may be with some other persons and will include:- Welcome introduction and assessment at the castle including a licence check during tea/coffee and biscuits. Introduction to the bus and its characteristics and "walk round" safety check. Participants will then be shown how to manoeuvre the bus including going around cones and reversing round a corner using mirrors. There will be several opportunities to be in the driving seat, the length of which will be dependant on the number of drivers in your group. A certificate will be presented to afterwards over tea/coffee. ENHANCED DRIVER EXPERIENCE Morning and afternoon 3 hours £225.00 Spectator £35.00 This experience includes all of the Basic Driver Experience but also :- Light refreshments at lunchtime. Another opportunity to drive (at least 20 minutes) including a run along a private road, changing up and down gears ! Return to the castle and presentation of your Driving Experience certificate over tea/coffee. CONDITIONS 1. Participants must have held a full clean driving licence for at least a year and be under 70 years of age in reasonably good health, under 18 stones and ideally between 5ft6 ins and 6ft 4ins in height. 2. Participants must be free from the influence of alcohol on the day. 3. Participants must bring their driving licence with them on the day and have it available for inspection. 4. We reserve the right to refuse any application if we regard the participant as unsuitable for any reason. The instructors decision is final. 5. We cannot guarantee a particular vehicle due to operational reasons and vehicle availability though we always try to meet special requests.
